How would you describe your style of art?
I call my pieces “computerized paintings”...makes me feel fancy.
What inspires you?
Anything and everything. However, I tend to focus a lot of my work on animals, I love photographing them in their their natural settings. Their eyes say it all- how they feel, how they communicate with the world around them. It’s fascinating.
What do you wish to communicate through your pieces?
A sense of comfort and beauty. I want people to get excited when they see my pieces, and understand that when you zone in on immense detail, it can illuminate your mind, and inspire you.
Can you tell me a bit about your art-making process?
I start off with a photograph, and then in Photoshop paint over it using the eye dropper and paint brush tool. I zoom in super close and try to match the color of the pixels, which is sort of a guessing game. Depending on the piece, it can take hours, days, and even months. It’s my form of therapy.
Do incorporate creativity-boosting activities into your daily routine? If so what activities do you do?
One of my favorite things to do is take photographs. My photo eyes are constantly on, and I never leave home without a camera. I’m also currently in school to become a Certified Massage Therapist, so there’s a great deal of creativity there. Massage and art are a great team. I also love visiting and doing photo shoots at the Zoo. My friends keep telling me I need to hang out with humans, but animals are just more interesting (I’m half kidding...).
What advice would you give other creative minds?
Be open, and most important don’t be afraid. There’s no cap on creativity, if you have an idea, do it. Push yourself and you can create something unique and beautiful. Lastly, my advice for everyone is to visit my Etsy Shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BeingArtsy. Thank you and remember, stay artsy!
